The Under 18s were away to Ware in the EJA league on Sunday, looking to avenge a 6-2 defeat in the cup during the previous week.
Playing on the artificial pitch at Wodson Park, the Saints started strongly, pressed high and didn’t allow Ware time to settle on the ball.
The Saints created a string of chances and were finally rewarded when Geller broke into the box, got to the bye line and was taken out by a Ware defender. Owen stepped up to score the resulting penalty.
Owen then had two glorious chances to increase the lead, narrowly missing with shots just past the post.
Ware came out ready to take the game to the Saints in the second half. However, the Saints stayed organised and limited Ware to a few half chances. The Saints looked dangerous on the break with Ralfe having a good chance when he sent a chip just over after a strong run down the right. Owen then had a one-on-one that produced a fine stop by the Ware keeper.
