Unsung hero commits further year to the Saints

We have some more great news to bring you from Clarence Park this evening as we can announce that David Diedhiou has signed a new deal for the 2020/21 season.

It’s been a busy last few months for the defensive midfielder having dedicated over 1100 hours of voluntary work for the NHS during this Covid-19 pandemic.

With the ink still drying on the paperwork this afternoon, manager Ian Allinson wasted no time in paying tribute to Diedhiou.

“David is a wonderful character to have at this club and I desperately wanted him to return, so to have this deal wrapped up makes me very happy”.

“Since the season ended, he took it upon himself to volunteer for the NHS and quite frankly, the amount of work he’s done for them is astonishing but honestly, that’s just the measure of the man”.

Diedhiou was used in a number of positions for City last season whilst also enjoying some dual-registration games at former club Hendon, with Allinson hinting the player is set for a big season with the club.

“David has a great influence on the people around him. He’s also a very good player, an even better person and I’m glad he’s at St Albans City”
