The Under 18s were in County Cup action on Sunday, playing on the 3g at Nicholas Breakspear against Wormley Rovers.
For the first 30 minutes, the young Saints struggled to get into their rhythm but had the majority of possession. However, the team were wasteful in front of goal with four good chances to take the lead. The Saints nearly went behind when the Wormley striker latched on to a through ball and lobbed Jackson in the Saints goal. The lob was goal bound but Jackson somehow managed to recover his ground and clawed the ball off the line.
Following a couple of substitutions, the Saints came to life, moving the ball quickly and scoring 3 goals in a five minute spell.
The first goal came after Geller slotted through Hossen to finish low into the corner of the net. The second goal was scored after Lawrence slotted in Ralfe who also fired low into the corner. The third came about after Lawrence, Lankshear and Ralfe combined with a one-touch move that was finished first time by Ralfe.
The lads continued where they left off in the first half and, after a direct run, Orde was fouled on the edge of the box. Orde struck the resulting free kick over the wall and into the top corner.
It was soon 5-0. From another move through midfield, Orde found Lawrence on the edge of the box who beat the defender to the right and finished low across the keeper. Wormley’s heads didnt drop but they struggled to gain any meaningful possesion with Geller bossing the midfield.
The Saints made it six from another assist by Orde. This time he found Owen who made no mistake. The seventh came from another Orde free kick on the right side of the area. He spotted the keeper had moved to the near post and crossed the ball to Owen who volleyed home.
Final score 7-0 and into the quarter finals.
