Ian Allinson’s men are back in action on Saturday when they travel to South London to face Welling United at Park View Road.
Having narrowly lost 1-0 against Bath City on home soil last weekend, the Saints carried a much improved second half performance into the Herts Charity Cup clash against Hemel Hempstead Town on Tuesday evening.
Two goals from Albert Adu either side of half-time looked to have secured City’s progress through to the next round until Nash scored a curled free-kick in the 89th minute. The tie when straight to penalties and the hosts won 4-3.
Despite not reaching the next round, Ian Allinson will be pleased that his squad look to have built upon their second half display against Bath City.
Welling United have experienced an up and down start to the campaign, winning four, drawing three and losing six of their opening thirteen games. It is a run of results that leaves Mark Goldberg’s side in fifteenth position, five points ahead of City.
Their last league outing, two weeks ago, saw the Wings suffer a 1-0 defeat at Park View Road against Hampton & Richmond Borough. Since then, the South London club have held National League side Eastleigh to 0-0 draw in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round, before losing the replay on Tuesday evening 4-2.
Goldberg, who previously managed Welling United in 2016, took over from Steve King following their play-off final defeat against Woking at the end of the 2018/19 campaign.
Ian Allinson goes into this meeting with a number of injury concerns. Both Joe Iaciofano and Sam Merson are unlikely to feature, while Taylor Miles is expected to be ruled out for the next few weeks with a rib injury. Tommy Brewer will also miss out on Saturday while he serves the final game of his suspension.
Kick-off is 3pm.
Admission at Park View Road is priced at £13 adults, £9 concessions, £5 12-17’s and under 12’s are free with a paying adult.
Those planning to travel to the game by rail should note that’s replacement busses are running between Lewisham and Welling.
