City get the away leg of their 2019/20 Vanarama National League South campaign underway with a trip to Kent to take on Dartford at Princes Park on Tuesday evening.
The new season kicked-off in less than spectacular fashion at Clarence Park on Saturday, as the Saints played out a 0-0 draw with Chippenham Town. Wide-man Bobson Bawling was the closest to breaking the deadlock for Ian Allinson’s side, but his two efforts from reasonable positions failed to hit the target.
Tuesday’s opposition, meanwhile, also struggled to spark their new season into life and suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat against Dean Brennan’s Wealdstone.
The Darts went behind early on but levelled things up before the break through former Saint and new summer arrival Josh Hill. However, that was as good as things got and despite creating a number of chances, three goals in the final twenty minutes from the hosts ensured that the Kent side went home pointless.
With four serious injuries picked up over the summer months by Dartford players and a number of new arrivals, its been a busy off-season at Princes Park. Joint managers Adam Flanagan and Jamie Coyle have brought in no less than eight new faces, including experienced striker Adam Cunnington, who signed for the club on the eve of the new season following a spell at Billeircay Town that saw him score 23 in 37. Another former City man to join over the summer was Luke Allen, who had previously been with Braintree Town.
The Saints go into this game with no injury concerns and will welcome back Joe Howe, who could be in-line to make his debut after he missed the season opener. The only absence will be that of former Dartford man Tom Bender, who is serving the final game of his suspension.
We hope that plenty of Saints supporters will be making the trip and backing the boys!
However, if you cannot make the game we will have full coverage across our social media feeds.
