Saints 2 Billericay Town 1

The hosts started the game the better of the two sides and had their first sight of goal when Moyo met David Noble’s corner, but the forward’s effort was blocked by a mass of bodies.

St Albans continued to be a threat from set-pieces and it was a well worked routine that broke the deadlock when Noble’s corner from the right found Tom Bender on the edge of the box and the defender struck a sweet volley that flew past Julian.

Noble was forced off with an injury prior to the half hour mark following a late tackle by Billy Clifford.

Billericay almost levelled things up just before half-time when Lafayette met an Emmanuel cross, but with just the goalkeeper to beat the forward saw his strike saved by the outstretched right hand of Dean Snedker.

The away side, who grew in confidence as the first half wore on, equalised ten minutes after the break when Adam Coombes met Kizzi’s cross from the right with a scissor kick and his spectacular effort looped over the goalkeeper and found the top corner.

Snedker kept the score level just a few minutes later when he reacted well to turn Emmanuel’s low effort over the bar with an outstretched leg.

Moyo, on the back of his two goals against Hemel Hempstead, saw his flicked header from a Zane Banton delivered turned wide by Julian.

With just a minute of regular time left the game was turned on it’s head when Ross Lafayette received his marching orders following a late tackle of Percy Kiangebeni.

With the man advantage St Albans pressed the away side with a series of long throws and deliveries into the box and the winning goal came in the fourth minute of stoppage time. A Sam Merson long throw caused a scramble in the Billericay box and the ball was cleared only as far as the substitute, who struck a rifled first-time effort across Julian and into the far corner of the net.
