The Saints fell to a one goal defeat against League Two’s Cambridge United on a very wet, summer’s evening at Clarence Park.
The game was very closely fought with few clear cut chances for either side. However, the deadlock was broken in the 24th minute when Dunk’s excellent cross found the former Barnsley midfielder, Luke Berry, who powered a header past Snedker in the Saints goal. Mitov, in goal for Cambridge United, pulled off a smart save at his near post to deny Charlie Walker a goal but United held on to their lead at the half-time whistle.
The second half saw both sides make wholesales changes but again the Saints battled well and nearly snatched a draw in the last couple of minutes when Bojaj headed just wide.
