Four return as rebuilding begins

As you may have seen on our social media platforms, the club are pleased to announce that Zane Banton, Tom Bender, James Kaloczi and Scott Shulton have all put pen to paper on new deals for the 2019/20 campaign.

Saints manager Ian Allinson is obviously delighted to have the quartet on board for the new season and promises that work is continuing behind the scenes to improve the already talent-laden squad.

We’ve spoken to all the players from last year and made offers to those we’d like to keep – so to have Zane, Tom, James and Scott all sign so early in the off-season is a great boost and should emphasise our intentions.

The player turnaround is always quite high in non-league but we’re looking for stability at the club and we’ll use last year’s squad as a foundation to build upon and hopefully we can bring in that extra bit of quality that we were lacking towards the end of the last few months.

The team were unfortunate to narrowly miss out on the play-offs for the second consecutive season but the tireless preparations on the new season started months ago for Allinson and assistant Glen Alzapiedi.

We know the areas where we need to improve but I also want to reward those players who gave everything for us over the last season. We’ve got a very talented side here and it may only be a case of adding the odd new face here and there to help us make that step up.

concluded the City boss.

The club can also confirm the departures of Ben Herd and Lewis Knight. Ben leaves the club to take up the managerial position at Hertford Town, while Lewis has decided to depart following the conclusion of his current deal. Everyone associated with St Albans City would like to thank Ben and Lewis for their service and wish them all the best in the future.

Of course you’ll hear all the very latest news from around Clarence Park here on stalbanscityfc.com and our social media outlets throughout the summer.
