St Albans City and Chippenham Town shared the spoils at Clarence Park on the opening day of the season.
Chippenham Town started the first half the better of the two sides and could have taken the lead inside eight minutes when Evans’ header was palmed away at full-stretch by Deam Snedker.
That appeared to wake the home side up and Bobson Bawling was presented with an opportunity on the quarter of an hour mark when the ball dropped for him on the edge of the box, but his strike looped over the bar.
However, it was the Bluebirds who continued to control much of the first forty-five and should have opened the scoring through Hopper, who somehow put his diving header wide when it looked easier to scoring following a brilliant piece of play down the right by summer signing Pratt.
The second forty-five started in a less frantic manor and it took until the seventieth minute for the target to be threatened. Darren Foxley was first to see his effort from range failed to hit the mark, before Bawling could only manage to send his strike over the bar following an excellent turn and half-volley.
Foxley, who was a threat throughout when cutting inside, had the final sight of goal of the ninety minutes, but after being teed up by substitute Adu, he could only manage to send an effort wide from the angle.
