Late last year St Albans City Youth and St Albans lost one of its biggest advocates in David Wray.
David, 61, was well known across the district and throughout the county for his tireless work within and outside of the club, promoting football and encouraging younger generations through various programmes, including coaching. He gave support and advice to many other clubs and organisations in and around the County including Herts Sports Partnership, Active St Albans and Special Olympics. Over the past 10 years hundreds of 16 to 18 year olds from St Albans and the surrounding area have benefited from City Youth Young Coaches programme that he organised
On Saturday 6th May at 7.30 pm St Albans City will host a memorial match between a St Albans City Legends team managed by Kevin Mudd, against the pride of St Albans City Youth Coaches and Managers including some of those who have been on the above programme. Earlier in the day there will be St Albans City Youth games as detailed below:
1:30pm Kick Off City Youth Under 18 Orient v City Youth Under 18 West – Last match as Youth Teams
16:30pm Kick off City Youth Disability Team v TBA
19:30pm Kick Off – St Albans Legends v St Albans City Youth Coaches & Managers
There will be no admission charge but collections will be made for Dave’s favourite Charity St Albans Special Olympics (SOSA).
We will be welcoming David’s family to Clarence Park, his wife Lesley and their children.
