The Saints were knocked out of the FA Trophy on Saturday as they went down to a 3-1 defeat against Welling United at Park View Road.
City took the lead in the 20th minute when Zane Banton finished from close range after good work by Merson.
An impressive first half display could have been rewarded with a two goal lead going into half-time, but Merson saw his flicked header crash off the bar.
Two goals in two minutes from Waldren and Emmanuel turned the game on it’s head just past the hour mark.
The Saints looked to have been given a glimmar of hope with ten minutes left on the clock when Waldren received a straight red for a challenge on Nwabuokei.
The expected rally didn’t materialise, however, and it was in fact Welling who rounded off the scoring with a Cook goal direct from a free-kick.
