Ian Allinson has this afternoon recruited the services of attacking midfielder Liam Sole on loan until the end the season from MK Dons.
A product of the youth system in Milton Keynes, Sole is highly regarded at the League Two outfit and Allinson believes the move benefits both clubs.
Milton Keynes are keen for him to get minutes under his belt and sees a move here as the perfect opportunity for him to develop. In addition to that, we also get ourselves a very good player for the rest of the season.
With injuries to David Noble, Ben Herd and Sam Merson, the City boss has a slim squad to pick from heading into tomorrow’s league encounter with Hampton & Richmond Borough.
We’ve got a great squad when they’re all fit but we’ve been unlucky with how the injuries have all come at once but the signing of Liam will help bolster our attacking ranks. He can play on either wing or even in a more advanced role so fits right in to the system we have here.
Ironically, Liam has just returned from a loan spell at Hampton but goes straight into the squad to face them tomorrow.
It’ll be strange for the lad to go back there so soon but he’s a top class professional and he’s eager to improve his trade at St Albans City.
Speaking about any further additions to the squad, the Saints manager is still reluctant to flood the squad with players despite its depleted ranks.
There are quite a few players available believe it or not but I’m not going to overpay on anyone and we’re slowly getting the missing players back so I don’t feel the need to saturate the changing room at this stage.
We all welcome Liam to Clarence Park.
